I had removed the # lines below to avoid them to appear no e-mail (because they are useless!)

         echo "--$MIMEBOUNDARY"
         echo "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii"
         echo "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit"
         echo ""
         # echo "$FILE (ftp://$HOSTNAME:$PORT/$FILE):"; $INFO -n $FILE
         # echo "ReceivedOn: $DEVICE"

and changed name file from a CommID number to a more significant with:

             $MIMENCODE $FILE 2>/dev/null
         elif [ "$FILETYPE" = "pdf" ]; then
             #echo "Content-Type: application/pdf; name=\"c$COMMID.pdf\""
             echo "Content-Type: application/pdf; name=\"$FILE.pdf\""

             #echo "Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"c$COMMID.pdf\""
             echo "Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"$FILE.pdf\""

I hope this help you to get more beatiful faxes... mines are... without that FTP link and strange name... and hope so that  RequestedDeletion can forget about my completly "OOPS" on previous message!

BTW: to have PDF files working you should see:

http://www.hylafax.org/howto/delivery.html

where there is this:

4.2 Attached TIFF/PostScript/PDF Mail Delivery
By using this procedure, the default mail will be sent without the ftp links, but the fax image will be attached to that notification mail.

Create the file etc/FaxDispatch (usually /var/spool/hylafax/etc/FaxDispatch) so that it contains the following lines:

   FILETYPE=tif;
   SENDTO=FaxMaster;
Substitute pdf or ps for tif as you desire.
Note that because TIFF and PDF are binary file types, metamail or some other UU-encoding program must be installed. If you do not use metamail's mimencode, also include a line like

   MIMENCODE=bin/uuencode_it;
in your FaxDispatch file where bin/uuencode_it is an executable shell script of the form
   #!/bin/sh
   uuencode -m $1 $1 | grep -E -v "^begin|^====$" 2>/dev/null
HylaFAX versions prior to 4.1.1 do not support the FILETYPE option in FaxDispatch, and so the attachments will always be Postscript. Users of HylaFAX versions prior to 4.1.1 (shame on you) may be interested in using the old faxrcvd-mail scripts by Noel Burton-Krahn. They can be found here. Note that these WILL NOT WORK as-is on HylaFAX versions 4.1.1 and newer.

I have done it with success! Enjoy!

MadPat,

Please verify that URL I post yesterday. There is the path I follow to get PDF faxes working.
Please verify about the uuencode_it file. I have to create it!
If you have any doubts, I can send you (or attach here!) my config files.
You choose what files or I´ll send a lot of them! ;-)

Just ask!

You've got Cypheus working?

You wouldn't write a little howto would you?

Sorry, but i thought the ionformation i gave was enough.

Cypheus was no problem to get it work. Only i couldn't read the incoming faxes. this was the right were on 600. i've changes this to 0644 and i could read al the incoming faxes.

my problem was that my modem didn't pick up the telephone line. This was solved (as you can read above) by Chaloner Hale.

Now i'm working to get .pdf files instead of .tif files.

i'll make a howto for installing halyfax en cypheus and post a message when i've released this.

i hope this is the  information what you ment.

The Hylafax bit is no problem. I've been running a fax server on SME since 5.6 beta first appeared. I should probably write up a Hoto myself because a lot of the standard stuff is less than correct. In particular the configuration files produced by the faxsetup program included with Hylafax are useless on about 50 % of all modems - typically faxes are transmitted scrunched up with scanlines missing. Solving this is the whole key, particularly if your modem is Hayes or Zoom or the myriad others based on the same chipsets.

What I've never been able to do is get is get Cypheus to work. The printer based fax clients like WHFC and SMBFax are very easy, although SMBFax has a bad habit of sending multiple copies of faxes, sometimes 100 copies or more. WHFC is transparent and does everything most people would need.

One useful tip is to obtain and load TiffView.exe which makes viewing and printing Tiff based faxes very easy. It's available here...

       ftp://ftp.celestial.com/pub/tiffview.exe

My interest in Cypheus is because it is such a nicely presented program, but try as I might I simply cannot get it to work.
