Supported PCI IDE controllers

Anyone know if there are any PCI IDE controller cards which will install on SME server without needing additional drivers? I just need ATA100 with DMA capability, which SME Server can't provide on my 845G chipset due to a bug in the 2.4.18 kernel. Mitel won't help unless I am a paying customer.

I'm using a TITAN card based on a CMD (649 ?) chipset.

i am using i-will side 66 (highpoint 366 chip), software raid 1 .IBM 45G 7200rpm HDD.
install on sme 5.6, without any addition driver , just install on p-pro 200MHZ
and 128M ram, is ok , without any problem.
but i tryed the highpont 302 , rocket 133 card is not ok. can not find HDD.

but i think is may not the ide chips with 845g , because i have a sme5.5
run on p-4 1.6G and 845D main board, raid 1, 256m ram.

i think is the problem on the 845g build-in Display.Paul Martell-Mead wrote:

I haven't tried this, but I believe the Promise Ultra 100 or Ultra 100 TX2 may be recognized by the 5.6 kernel. On the promise web site, there's a patch that "fixes unable to boot to Linux CD Rom". (But then, if you install one of these cards, leave the CD attached to the motherboard connector and you won't need the patch).

As often happens, the RedHat  hcl doesn't have any info, but embedded promise chips in motherboards now work and install just fine from 5.6, as I have done now several times.

I actually have a highpoint 366 IDE controller card in my home machine, so I will probably give that a go.

The problem with 845G and SME Server 5.6 is a small change that stops it initialising with the 845 driver. SME Server 5.5 treats the controller as a generic IDE device which seems to work ok- however I've spent quite a while setting up the server with 5.6 and I don't want to lose my settings.

I've swapped IDE controllers in 98/2000/XP many times. Is Linux more problematic?
