bad download 5.6
« on: February 19, 2003, 12:23:54 AM »
I have tried 6 times to get a copy of 5.6 and each time I do not get a copy that checks out with the MD5 checksum. ( the ISO image)

6f9a006885572fb0c6a9d9137206038a is the checksum I get
fb2a795686e272eace3cd60875c9fa39 is what I am suppose to get

I originally ran the ISO file with out checking the MD5 checksum and it did not install. So I thought that I got a bad copy so I started checking the MD5 sum.

After installing it twice, I am determined not to burn another CD until the MD5 matches. Could it be that the MD5 checksum is incorrect?

I bet they are getting tired of me downloading this package......
Anyone have the same problem?
Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone have another way of getting this thing?

http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?type=begins&file=smeserver-5.6unsupported.iso may be helpful. For what it's worth, I use GetRight for all my big downloads, even on broadband...

The checksum at ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/releases/5.6/iso/
is the correct one. I have checked a download that works OK which has this checksum.

Just try again !!

AFAIK "md5sum" and "md5sum -b" give different results.  If you got the same checksum 3 times that would tend to indicate you're getting a good download.
