Topic: Samba + two interfaces!!!

Hi,
I have installed SME ver.5.6 server and gateway.There are two ethernet cards.
My problem is that when I have configured Samba I only can see Samba Server from  one subnet and from other I can't see!!!
Can you suggest me something that I can do?
I configure Samba to allow hosts to enter from my subnets and I configure Samba to use both interfaces.
What else can I do?

Have you set up the [interfaces] sections of the SMB.conf ?

if not, 'edit /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/smb/conf/11interfaces' add the adresses of your cards and rebuild the smb.conf.

Then do a 'service smb restart'

That should be enough.

I mistaped the path, you sould have dread :
'/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/smb.conf/11interfaces'

Yes I have done it.
But that doesn't work.I even restart server.Can you tell me how to restart smb service?I to this time kill the samba deamon and then start them.
What else can I do?

you have to simply type :

'service smb restart'
(without the quotes of course)

you ought to do this after each smb.conf modification.

You say you have two interfaces.

Does that mean you really have three cards or do you have the system set up as server only?  If you have the system set as server and gateway one of your cards will act as an external interface.

I have two cards and I have server and gateway.
If that mean that I can't configure samba shares to be seen from my two subnets of my network???

Turn your server into server only and it will work..

Ok one more quastion.If I add to my server one card (it will be the third card) and I will still have the server and gateway Samba will work correctly???

Yes, 2 cards for the local networks and 1 for the gateway...
That will work imho.
