I am currenlty running a e-smith server is there any way or any programs available which will allow me to see how often users use the system. It would be good to see what time they log in and out. It's just to see the current usage of the system by the users so this can be analysed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can view log files in server manager

Try /var/log/messages and other log files eg /var/log/samba/log.xxxxxxxx
