SME5.6 on an PC-Chips motherboard

I am trying to install SME5.6 on a PC-Chips motherboard. I get about 50% of the way through and get a "The file mnt/source/e-smith/RPMS/readline-4.2a-4.i386.rpm cannot be opened. This is due to a missing file, a bad package or bad media. Press (return) to try again."
The checksum was OK. Burning another CD did not make any difference. Using a commercial 5.6 produced the same result. I changed hard drives. I blew away a previous debian install (
http://www.e-smith.org/bboard//read.php?f=1&i=24902&t=24091
).
E-smith 5.5 loads fine.
The only explanation I can think of is that there is either something still on the hard drive or something to do with the PC-Chips motherboard.
Suggestions?

No suggestions as to the likely fault but tbh if you intend running this machine as a production server then I'd rethink the board if I were you. While PC-Chips have improved their reliability they are still really intended only for basic client machines and are priced accordingly. Just because SME and linux generally can run on lower spec machines doesnt mean you should do so.
just my opinion anyway for what its worth.

Er... PC Chips make many motherboards. Which mobo / cpu / HDD RAM are you trying to install on? I'm running my home server on an LMR810, Athlon 800, 256M RAM and it's just fine.

Thanks Norrie / Bob
This is a test / backup machine.
M810L v7.1A, Athlon 1100, 256M RAM.
5.5 loads OK, 5.6 gets the lockup on copying (?!?!?!?) the file.
I have tried optimal and failsafe settings with the same result.

I finally loaded 5.6 onto this hard drive using a gigabyte motherboard and this went through without problem. I then installed the hard drive onto the PC-Chips mobo as an upgrade, which therefore did not have to load the readline.rpm. It all seems to be working fine now.
Curious.
