Hi,
I am running SME Server 5.6U2 and I've noticed for a while now, occasionally I get a "slowdown" in Internet access.
Upon checking traffic on the ppp0 interface with iptraf, there is a volume of UDP requests to/from "important" DNS servers around the globe on port 53.
A very brief snippet of the traffic:
UDP (83 bytes) from myhost.webone.com.:32769 to 158.43.129.92:domain
UDP (165 bytes) from 158.43.129.68:domain to myhost.webone.com.:32769
UDP (83 bytes) from myhost.webone.com.:32769 to 158.43.129.92:domain
UDP (143 bytes) from arrowroot.arin.net:domain to myhost.webone.com.:32769
UDP (75 bytes) from myhost.webone.com.:32769 to j.gtld-servers.net:domain
Has anybody else seen this happen? And how would I go about changing BIND to a 'forwarding only' DNS server, that also resolves local addresses?
regards.
