Tapestreamer on lpt

I got a HP Colorado 7/14Gig external streamer.

In 5.6 is it possible to make it work, or do I have to find the money for a new drive ?

As subj. tells, it is using the printer port, with the HP lpt to scsi converter.

Any help will be appreciated.

Is it possible for you to use it without the LPT to SCSI converter and use it on a SCSI card with external interface?

That's the problem, I got no room to place the scsi connnector for the streamer.
(Only got 2 slots, and both are occupied with nics)

Then what about installing an ISA NIC, i have seen a HOWTO for that somewhere. That gives you a free PCI slot

It sounds like new cheap MB with ONLY two PCI slots (no ISA)
I would try to use unexpensive multiport NIC in one slot and SCSI adapter in other or replace motherboard.
You will not get good performance via LPT port anyway, even if it works.

It's not, in fact it is an old Compaq Deskpro.
It has 1 pci and one combined pci/isa slot.
I use 2 pci nics right now.

Main reason I asked, was the fact that I got the tapestreamer lying in the drawer.
(and right now running backup to my desktop)
