Topic: Customized backup with a tapedrive

In my SME 5.6 server I have one HDD of 10GB (with +- 3GB free space) and a Tapedrive (HP Colorado) for 5GB of data. So a backup of the complete server is not possible. That is not such a big problem, cause I only want to backup everything EXCEPT 2 of my ibays. These 2 ibays contain together around the 4GB of data (applications and MP3 files). So I want to backup around the 3-4,5GB of data from my server. Is there a way (through the server-manager ??) where I can backup everything except 2 of my ibays to tape, let's say every week ?) Or maybe by some scripts ?

I have almost the same problem and solved it using Arkeia backup.
There are two ways you can use it.

1) Shad Lords has integrated it into sme server manager and you use it instead of using flexbackup. It will run automated according to the settings in server manager Arkeia backup panel.
To exclude sme folders from the backup put a file named .OPB_NOBACKUP
 into that folder (make sure there is a dot at the beginning and I think the caps are important also). You will see the result in the Arkeia backup report.
To do restores you will need to instal the java applet on a windows workstation and run it from your workstation

2) Instal arkeia without the sme contrib and use the java applet to control it from a Win workstation both for backups and restores.
