Topic: Dell TapeDrive - controller required?

I'm getting ready to buy the PowerEdge 600SC and want to get a Dell PowerVault tape drive with it.  Since I'll be using 2x36GB RAID0, I am looking at the

"PowerVault 100T, SCSI, DDS4, 20/40GB, Internal TBU"

which should be enough to do a compressed backup of the entire drive.  Has anyone used this tape drive?

My question:  Do I need to get the one with or without the controller?  I'm not exactly sure what the controller does.  Anyone have any tips for getting it working with e-smith.

Rich- If you read this, is your 20/40 with or without a controller?
