UNCLE!  I have been searchi9ng the forums with no luck.  I have just installed E-smith 5.5 from CD on  PC with 2  20 GB HD's.  I choose to to software raid in server only mode. It is my 2nd E-smith box and will be used as a file server to back up data from my 2 Windows PC's.  I created an Ibay and started to transfer about 8.5 GB to the ibay.  all was going well and I have over 8GB copied, but it is now indicated I am out of diskspace.  Does this make sense?

THANKS!

Ray Mitchell

Have a look at the e-smith.org FAQ, there is a problem with RAID setups not showing the correct disk size.

Thanks for the help Ray.  I found a command to run to force the correct size.  Although, this did not work.  I do value learning new commands, etc as I grow with my Linux knowledge.  I was unable to get this work under 5.5.  I tried reloading it 4 times:  Fresh install RAID config - no luck, Fresh install single config - worked (for only 1 hard drive.)  Upgrade to RAID config :  No luck )Failure to mount the drives)  Then a last fresh install RAID config:  Same error about failures.

I then decided to try 5.6 based on some info I read about better RAID support with this version.  Without any other changes made from the last failure, I loaded the 5.6 code with RAID config.  It now works, and it shows I have 18 GB space to use.  Strange, but functional now.  Thought I would pass this on in case others find this same problem.
