Slow Postnuke site on SME 5.6
« on: May 08, 2003, 03:11:32 AM »
Maybe anybody have the same problem i'm encountering here.

I'm using an Intel MB PII 350 256MB ram 30Gb IDE HD.

SME 5.6 is installed.
Running Postnuke 7.2.2 (phoenix)
Awstats for SME is installed
Got some speed gain with PHPA installed on it. (default configuration)

But still, by using openload from another on my internal network with 20 users load configuration, the CPU run at 97%.

The server is not used for anything but the web server and Mysql database.

Is it worthy to get the MySQL server on another computer.

Thanks

What would be the compelling reason to do that ?  More modules ? Safer Code ? Larger user base ? Faster ?

Please explain.

Well,

1. To begin with, what started this thread. It runs GREAT on SME.
2. Yep, faster in my experiance
3. More integrated product.
4. Deeper developer support and involvement.
5. Proven to be the most secure of the Nuke forks.

And yes, I am an MPN developer.

Give it a shot though, might be your cup of tea . . . might not be.

My point is NOT the Nuke version, my major problem is with the fact that server won't support more than 20 users at the same time (still it's slow) and that have nothing to do with the scripts i use.

I discovered today that PHPA (ioncube php accelerator) seem to work only at half it put the files in the cache but doesn't seem to use the cache....

My next step is to update the php to 4.2.2 (maybe 4.3.3r2 but i'll see)

My point is that it MAY have everything to do with which Nuke you are using.

There are VERY large differances between many of the nuke forks. They are not even close to being the same app anymore.

So do as you will . . . http://myphpnuke.com ran on SME server for over a year . . . many times with more than 100 concurrent users. No php accelerator, just plain SME and  myPHPNuke on a $200 linux server.

You asked a question, I gave an answer. If you choose not to listen and at least give it a try, that of course is your choice. It's clear that you know much more about PHP and SME than I.

Sorry if i offended you, but i forgot to say that i tried oscommerce and phpnuke with the same result.  I just installed myphpnuke and it's running even slower than postnuke on my server.

I'm suspecting some hardware problems, i'll redo a fresh install on another HD to see the result.

I'm just curious to know what kind of HW and  internet connection, myphpnuke.com is using

The original machine was a AMD K6-2  350 mhz, with 7200 rpm HD.
The first internet connection was a cable modem, and then moved to a T1.

Good luck
