Topic: Web and mail server seperate? Probs

I have 2 e-smith 5.6 boxes. Both on seperate adsl and individual permanent ip's.

I want to run one for web and one for email, but for th same domains.

To an external person this is no probs, because the dns and MX records take care of it. Its a problem when trying to send email to someone within domain to mail.domain box from www.domain box.

www.domain box says "no such user"

I have setup the redirection of mail.domain to the ip address through the hostname section in the e-smith manager. But this does not seem to fix the problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try "delegate mail server" in E-mail retrieval but you won't then be able to recieve mail for your domain on the www server. Everything will go to the mail server.

If you need mail on both servers then you will need to think again..
