Topic: ADSL (Netcomm NB1300 Modem) + SME 5.6 Connectivity Problem!

Hi,

I am trying to connect SME 5.6 to the world using a Netcomm NB1300 ADSL Modem.

If the modem is running in Router mode, I have to assign a static IP address to the SME box, thus not giving it true "open to the world" connectivity. I also then have to use port forwarding, which does not allow for the best method of connectivity.

If the modem is running in Bridge mode, I need to set the SME box to login user PPPoE, with the appropriate login details - this doesn't work. I have tried both with the standard SME PPPoE setup, and with a contributed RPM that enables ADSL support for Australia's Telstra.

Does anyone have any suggestions as how I maybe able to get the SME box to be "open to the world" with a public IP, logging onto the ADSL network appropriately (any different RPMs available?) and the ADSL modem running in Bridge mode?

Check the messages log file to see what is happening to the PPPoE negotiation process; post that info.

I assume that you are appending @bigpond to the username in your setup??

You'll need to define "doesn't work" for anybody to help you.

Same model 5.6 in Bridge mode works fine for me with IInet,  Has fro several weeks. Suspsext you would be morre likely to have Telstra blocking Port 80 traffic, IInet also do this.
