Does someone knows howto create a raid on an installed machine?
I want to put a second harddisk for a mirror raid on a production server
Where do I start?

Thanks

I believe this is not on.  I think the process is:

a)  back it up - including documentation of all installed updates & extensions
b)  setup raid hardware
c)  clean install on raid hardware (inc all updates, extensions, etc)
d)  restore

I am happy to be proved wrong on this :-)

It's almost the same procedure.
To quote Graeme with a minor change or two

a) back it up - including documentation of all installed updates & extensions
b) setup single disk system
c) clean install on single disk hardware (inc all updates, extensions, etc)
d) restore

You could just run the RAID1 system with one disk only as if it were in failed disk mode !! A 2 disk RAID system should happily run on 1 disk, that's what it is supposed to be able do.
I'm not sure of the longer term consequences of doing this though.

If you have raidmonitor installed just disbale it to stop receiving error messages about the RAID being broken.

Whenever you want you can foillow the HOWTO and rebuild the second drive.
