Multiple gateway problem

Multiple gateway problem

Hi,

We installed an ADSL line at the office today, to get some speed.

Our 64k static ip leased line router is sitting at 10.1.1.1, our adsl router with dynamic ip is at 10.1.1.5

If my default gateway is pointing at 10.1.1.1 all is well, and incoming connections are fine. As soon as I change my default gateway to 10.1.1.5, nothing from the 10.1.1.1 router gets through, and any pages requested locally get a gateway timeout.

Where should I start looking?

Enter the remote LAN(s) in the remote networks link inserver manager. Use the old router IP address for the router.  All systems then use SME which will redirect to any remote LANs you define in server manager.

Both routers access the internet. I've got a local networks page, but not remote?

I should clarify that any web request currently still come in over the slow link.

Alex,

Local Networks is correct, my bad.

I have SME and IPCop on the internet at my central location.  IPCop is my WAN/LAN IPSEC router.  The SME is used to filter internet with squidguard and watch web surfing with sarg.  Since users at the central location use SME as a gateway, I had to add my remote LANs in the local networks in server manager.  This way users can communicate with systems on other LANs if necessary, but only traffic to 192.168.3.0, and 192.168.5.0 gets redirected from SME to IPCop.  Central location is 192.168.1.0.  Hope that helps you.

Web request come in?  I am not sure what you mean, but in bound traffic is determined by DNS and your setup at your remote sites.  Your dhcp server should be your SME (on high speed connection) so all systems use that server for gateway.  If your using Windows or other Linux for dhcp, simply change the assigned gateway/router that gets handed out to clients.
