I have used Mondo Rescue to archive a SME 5.6 machine. It works great, and I have a howto on the school web site (maybe only briefly). http://www.culver.org/theacademies/laptop/mondo/

I have been in correspondence with the project lead for Mondo, and he wants to know how universal the convention is with SME to name the root partition "/1"

If you were unaware of this convention run "e2label /dev/hda3" from a command line.

I think he is intending to roll custom rpms for SME, but wants to know if it is always /1 and which versions are affected.

If you know the answer to this (or are willing to run  "e2label /dev/hda3 " and tell me the results), I would appreciate it.

[root@e-smith dan]# mount
/dev/md1 on / type ext3 (rw,usrquota,grpquota)
none on /proc type proc (rw)
usbdevfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbdevfs (rw)
/dev/md0 on /boot type ext3 (rw)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
[root@e-smith dan]# e2label /dev/md1
/

[root@Perkamentus root]# e2label /dev/hda1
/boot

[root@Perkamentus root]# e2label /dev/hda2
/

[root@Perkamentus root]# e2label /dev/hda3
e2label: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/hda3
Couldn't find valid filesystem superblock.

Tom,

as much as I like the idea of a Mondo rpm for SME - don't make him work on the assumption that the /1 label is used in standard SME environments. This is not the case, as Dan and Michiel have also shown above.

Hmmm...

I wonder if the samples are running 5.6?

It may be that the /1 label is a 5.6 thing.

Yes, even after posting that question five times, mine is running 5.6.

It really seems to be a big issue for you, doesn't it?  ;-)

But to answer you question: No, I tested it on 5.6u4.

I thought it hadn't posted. I gave up and rebooted only to discover that it posted a _bunch_ of times.

Sorry...
