Outlook persists in showing messages moved to another folder by another client (Apple's Mail) as deleted (crossed out) and purging has no effect.

Has anybody else seen this & what to do?

Are there two clients in the same mailbox simultaneously?

SME's IMAP server isn't built to support multiple access to the same mailbox. Just as importantly OL & Mail aren't good with that configuration either.

My advice would be, if the problem is only showing up in OL, to have it rebuild it's local cache. Either "compact" that PST or just remove it and create another one. In either case all of the local information will be lost* and a new (& accurate) set will be downloaded.

*By 'lost' I don't mean the actual email or it's state, that's all safe on the IMAP server. Rather just the apparently messed-up local cache will be tossed and recreated.

Fixed in 6.0 beta release. The very excellent dovecot IMAP server is used in place of WU imap. As well as having fewer problems, it's *much* faster. I expect fewer security issues as well.

If it really annoys you, right click on the Account (in the Folders View) and Reset List. This normally allows you to then purge the deleted items.

Did you jump the gun, Charlie?

According to http://dovecot.procontrol.fi :

"* Shared mailboxes aren't yet supported."

Clearly it's on dovecot's to-do list but, according to what I'm reading in the docs, not there yet.

I'm not kvetching, this is a feature I'd dearly love to see but want to be sure it's really there before setting folks loose on it.

Also, the "outlook-idle workaround", could this be noted in the SME documentation?

Shared mailboxes and multiple accesses to the same mailbox (by the same user/program) are two different things. Dovecot does implement the latter, but not the former.

I've been using the WU-IMAP server in SME 5.6U4 with several users connecting every five minutes to the same mailbox & it's been working admirably.
