How do I find out my dynamic ip address on e-smith server?

From the login prompt, type "ifconfig" (without the quotes). This will give the configuration details of all your interfaces.

Des: I think you would mean  "from a root session in the e-smith server" istead of "login prompt"

Ok
ifconfig will give you all of your ip address, and the last one ussually is your external interface.
if you are using a pppoe type link you can use (from a root session on the e-smith box) "service pppoe status" and it will give you the external interface ip address as: "inet address www.xxx.yyy.zzz"
