hello guys,

We are dns managed by verisign and it look like they are experiencing problem
we are down since 10h30.

I need to add one of our SME box as a secondery dns server.

I would need help from this forum to get this done.

You mean, of course, "I would be very grateful if members of this forum could see their way clear to providing some assistance to me to help me achieve this."

Actually our registrar and our dns servers are with Verisign DNSmanaged,

With their service we have access to a web interface with option to configure
address(A)  Mail Servers (MX)   Aliases (CNAME) Advanced    Configure SOA    WebForward    MailForward  DNS. Everything is setup there.

if we want to add another dns server elsewhere, cause if all their 4 dns server goes down again, request will goest to the fifth server.. right!

I have open an account with dyndns. I guess what I need is a secondary dns service...

But where do I point the main IP for the domain?

Consider Granitecanyon. They provide DNS services for free.
http://soa.granitecanyon.com/ - to make them a secondary, you have to list them in your domains 'whois' records (who did you registrer the domain name with?) as being responsible for your DNS. Usually there are options to list several DNS servers for your domain. You would include NS3.GRANITECANYON.COM as a backup nameserver once you had gone through the granite canyon setup procedure.

Does this domain live on your SME server? If so, your DNS records would list your SME server's IP address in all fields. A, MX, etc.

C'est toujours bon de se rappeler les règles de politesse de base.
