Topic: I need help with ETRN/multidrop

I've started working with E-Smith after my boss suggested it.  The setup he wants accomplished is this.  We have one central e-smith server at our school library that is visible to the world.  There are other smaller branches of the library that have satellite e-smith servers that are also going to connect to the central server via dialup and retrive email at specific intervals.  These satellite servers will then provide email for the private networks in the other smaller branches.  I am totally new to e-smith so I don't know how multi-drop or ETRN works.  I assume ETRN has to be configured on the central server but I dont know how.  I also assume i'll need some DDNS for the satellite servers.  Also, I don't know what address that clients will mail to.  Do I need concurrent accounts on both the satellite servers and the central server to do this or can I collect all the email for a specific domain on the central server. I am newbie so please forgive any mistakes in any of the terms or whatever I used. If anyone can help. that would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.

Sorry this is a long time replying - just searching for ETRN help myself.
What you want isn't in the package though I don't think.  ETRN for the situation where e-smith picks up messages from a primary MX server is there, not for the situation where e-smith is serving mail to a ETRN requesting server.

For this you need to setup e-smith as a secondary mail server for the relevent domain - ie so it accepts mail for the relevent domain and passes it along to the primary when it gets and ETRN prompt from the primary server.

ie setup qmail as a domain seconary, something beyond the scope of e-smith.  
But I assume you will have discovered all this already and if you figured it out you must be a qmail guru by now!

thanx I'll try it, I was also wondering if you know whether i can use mutliple domains with the method suggested

ie
central.com will be recieving mail for satellite1.com , satellite2.com and satellite3.com
