tracking source of oddities

tracking source of oddities

SME 5.6-04 newly installed.  I have a domain registered and a static ip.  In my setup my local 'server-name' is "sme-gateway".  My published domain is www.acenet-tech.org.

Two oddities have been occuring:

1. when accessing the server-manager I can ONLY do so with the 'server-name'/server-manager url... rather than my 'domain'/server-manager (remote access is enabled.

2. when sending email to my mailing lists, I get them bounced back with:

<'my-list-name'@sme-gateway.acenet-tech.org>:
Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

I am using mailman contrib packages from lordsfam.net.  My settings include the 'acenet-tech.org' as the domain used for mail, yet the mail is sent to the "sme-gateway.acenet-tech.org" domain...

I have enabled the publish globally choices in server-manager under hostnames, now I wonder what would be causing the above...?

Thank you for any tips

on that question i may help you:
enable it in the server-manager :
--> Security --> Remote access  -->  nearly at the bottom of the page you'll find
"It is possible to allow hosts on remote networks to access the SME server manager by entering those networks here. Use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.255 to limit the access to the specified host.

Click here to add a new entry."

here you can listen *networks*, that will have access to your server-manager via https://yourServer.com/server-manager.
remember the https!

cheers klaus

Under 'review configuration' your 'Primary Domain' is www.acenet-tech.org? or just acenet-tech.org?

It smells like you need to change your config to use just your 'bare domain' name - don't specify any 'www' as the SME server will do all that for you...

These settings only have meaning if :
- You have Mitel ServiceLink
- You have followed the 'SME as Public DNS server' howto.

Wherever your DNS is being hosted on the net, make sure you have all the appropriate 'C names' entered (e.g. www, ftp, etc.)

Here's my domain info from 'review config':

Primary domain acenet-tech.org
Virtual domains No virtual domains defined
Primary web site http://www.acenet-tech.org
--others listed but not pertinent...

I have not yet tried the contrib referenced in the url you posted, but will give it a try this evening.  I am hesitant due to the fact tat I am on an ISP that is 'listed' as a dynamic ip assignment, yet my IP has not changed for over a year.

BTW, thank you Klaus for reminding me of that panel.  'That' part of my question is fixed.
