The original is master primary, and the preference is to replace it. but i don't mind adding it to the list in the meantime. The second drive is currently secondary master. Please advise bioth scenarios

Thanks

Try Mitel-SME instead, or hit the Tab key to see the options

Alternatively, boot the machine as usual and type telinit 1 at the prompt

SME is configured to run in a one hard drive configuration only. RAID being the exception, but this is essentially one drive from the OS's perspective.  I'd recommend against trying to warp SME to use two hard drives.  This would be a fork from standard SME that will likely come back to bite you at a later date.

Why not use the backup to desktop option in server manager?   After you've backed up your existing system to desktop, yank the old drive and replace it with a new one (keep the old drive just in case something tanks with the new hard drive upgrade)  With the new hard drive installed, reinstall a fresh version of SME and use the restore from desktop option to pull all of your old data to the new hard drive.

The only thing that you'd be lacking is any non-standard contribs that you installed on the old hard drive.   If you do have any contribs installed, simply copy the rpms in question to an Ibay prior to running the backup to desktop.  After you've performed the restore from desktop, you'll just need to reinstall the contrib rpms from the ibay that you moved them too.

Good luck.
