I´ve recently set up a dual boot environment on my W2K box, with Red Hat 9 (and KDE).
I´ve noticed an issue I didn´t see on Windows - when I store a file on a Samba share with accented characters in the name (using OpenOffice.org), the accented characters don´t display (in KDE they show as spaces; in a terminal, they show as either boxes or spaces and question marks). However, if I store the same file locally, KDE displays it properly.
It would appear to be a character set issue, but I can´t find what the cause might be. I have 5.6 with all updates applied. The SME Server´s smb.conf has ISO8859-1 as the character set (I´m in Canada), and I´ve set KDE´s Local Network Browsing setting to the same character set, with no change.
I´d appreciate any assistance.
Thanks,
