Can VPN in but can only see e-smith 6.03 box.

I'm able to VPN into my server but I can only see the shares on the server.  I can't ping ip addresses from a windows cmd window, however, if I Putty into the SME box I can then ping all my machines on the inside network.  I cannot ping them while VPN'ing into the server unless I am ssh'ed into the server itself.

Any ideas?

The original clients IP address has to be on a different subnet.
Could this be causing the problem ?

IE if you client has an IP address of 192.168.0.10 on it's local net, then
it cannot connect properly to a server with an IP address such as 192.168.0.1

The two computer have to be on different subnets such as 192.168.0 and 192.168.100

Hope this helps, it's all I can think of

I'm connecting using Sprint PCS Vision - through a Sierra Wireless Aircard.  I'm connecting from outside my network.  I VPN in with no problems - get an inside IP address through dhcp for the VPN - I can see my e-smith box but nothing else.

E-smith 192.168.0.253
Node 192.168.0.6

I can't ping .6 but can ping .253 from my  NT cmd window.

I can putty into .253 which is my server and once in can ping .6 with no trouble.

Umm... Are the subnet mask settings of your other computer's the same as the LAN interface of your e-smith box.
I mean (255.255.255.0) ?
Is there any possibility that e-smith is giving you an already assigned IP number?
