As some of you are already aware, there appear to be some problems arising between Mac OS X's implementation of AppleShare and netatalk 1.5.5. (The most obvious and irritating symptom of this incompatibility is "error code -50" complaints from Mac OS X when copying folders or files to a volume on the server.
I've downloaded the latest version of the netatalk source, but not had any luck installing it (it wants a compiler which is apparently not installed). I'm just not Linux-savvy enough to get further than this.
Am I likely to have any success with an RPM, and if so, which would be the best bet? Or would I need an RPM specially set up for e-smith?
Finally, I noticed that the SME 6.0 beta includes an RPM for... netatalk 1.5.5. So if even the next version of SME isn't going to be able to handle AppleShare with Mac OS X, this is simply going to make it unviable for me and I'll have to use a differnet distribution.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Thnaks,
Daniele
