Topic: ADSL with Sagem 908/e-smith 4.2

I'm trying to have an ADSL connection with free.fr using e-smith 4.2, a Sagem 908 modem connected to an ethernet card (Realtech rtl8139). The connection seems to be established, but is extremely slow (DNS search needs about 10-15 seconds and the download of a web page is less than 10 o/s !!!).

I already installed ADSL on e-smith version 4.2, with the same ethernet card, but with an Alcatel modem and with wanadoo. All works fine.

Has sb an idea of what happens with Sagem 908 and free.fr ?

I use the alcatal speed touch ethernet on free.fr for months (24/7 with several websites running) and it works pretty fine . Why use that (censored) sagem instead of your alcatel ???? The alcatel works fine on free.fr..

Thanks for your reply ! In fact, I use the modem that free.fr sent me with my subscription.

What you say seems confirm the previous experience I had with this alcatel modem (it was another install and the alcatel stays there) : ADSL with e-smith works very well, and probably it's a problem with the modem...

An idea about what I could try to make this sagem work properly ?
