How to add Printservers
« on: October 14, 2003, 11:51:58 PM »
I have a number of EDIMAX printservers on my network. I would like to run my printing through my 5.6 but I'm not sur how to do it.
Though I enter the IP in the servermanager I am not able to print.
What is the format of the entered adress? I guess I need to add information about what port on the printserver I use.
I would be very thankfull for a small how-to.

Thankyou in advance

You are talking about items like this :
http://www.edimax.com/html/Faq/FAQ_unix.htm

Right?

This tells how to do it manually on linux, but doesn't really explain how to add it via the server-manager...

Can anyone bridge the gap? From the text above :
-The PrintSir should be treated as a BSD networked print server host.
- The host name should be the name (or IP address) that you have assigned to the PrintSir.
- The printer name (or queue name) on the remote host should be lpt1, lpt2 or lpt3, the name of the parallel port on the PrintSir."

Got it!

when you add the network printer, make like the edimax printserver is just a regular net printer but! when asked :

Network printer name (enter raw if not sure)

enter in lpt1, lpt2, or lpt3 depending on the printer you want to print to.
