Topic: Curl and GD Graphics library in SME?

I'm supposed to prepare a server with Curl and GD Graphics library and would like to know if this included and/or may be included in SME Server 5.6?
I have experience with using SME as gateway/fileserver etc. and would prefer to be using it for this purpose as well, if possible.
I've tried to search the Forums and Curl seems to be included in 5.6 from what I can understand, is this correct?
Also, I'd like to know which version of PHP is being used in 5.6 and if anyone have experience with using GD Graphics library found at http://www.boutell.com/gd/ ?

I'm pretty sure that both gd and curl are included with 5.6; they definitely are with 6.0 (at least the beta).  PHP is version 4.1.2.  Don't have any experience with GD, but it's there...

I am sure that you will have at lease GD 1.6 with SME 5.6, as it is there in 5.5

I am attempting to figure out the path to the GD library in SME 5.5. Have done a search and can not find it. Need it for a PostNuke module called PN_zClassifieds. TIA

From other posts here it would appear that the GD libraries are not installed on 5.5 I have attempted to install the most recent version in /usr/local/GD library and get this error message:
bash: ./configure: bad interpreter: Permission denied
Does this mean the 5.5 version of PHP is too old?
