One last question.

When I set this server up two years agao I had a monitor.

Since then I chucked it and was using my laptop to access the server manager etc. Since I can't access the server for the upgrade via this method what can I do?

Or am I SOL until I get a monitor?

Probably.

Whilst there is a keen howto to setup a "serial console" (connecting to your server over the serial port) at :

http://www.lafferty.ca/software/sme/serial-console/

I can't see this applying to a "super brand new untouched installation environment" - i.e. what you get when you boot off a CDROM.

So, you probably need a monitor. Or a projector or one of those "VGA to TV" adaptors.

I downloaded the 5.6 .iso and rebooted my system, but it doesn't seem to be booting from the CD.  I went into the BIOS and the order is correct (CD, Floppy, Hard Disk).

My Version of E-smith is 2.78 and I am trying to upgrade form this...
