Hi Guys.
I've searched the forums, and got around the problem with Static IP's but I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion or a similar experience.
Firstly, the system in question is a dual 200 Pentium Pro HP XU Kayak with two raided 4 Gig SCSI drives and 5.6u5. It has been working perfectly previously. It handed out DHCP through a Cisco 1924 switch to the network and supplied Internet connectivity through a dial up connection. (A 3Com 3c509tx card by the way)
This all worked well until I got ADSL (which caused it's own problems)
When the second NIC (an Intel card to the router) went in, things started turning to custard. After the reconfig to use the second NIC, it would all work for about 40 seconds or so like normal and then I'd lose all connectivity.
Eventually I tracked it down to the Client machines magically reconfiguring themselves with a strange IP address for some reason.
Grasping at straws, I move the new NIC to another position and the problem seemed to fix itself. I put it down to an interrupt stuff up of some kind.
Now it seems that the time delay between these problems has merely increased.
This is mostly more annoying than critical. The bug list for 5.6 does mention using the correct drivers for the 3Com and I've confirmed this is the case.
Any suggestions?
