Hi, everybody!

I have a multi-drop pop3 account  at my ISP, which fetches allmost all mails for my domain, but my father uses a second account there,  where he gets his mails from.  Now I cannot  write a mail to him, because his e-mail address is unknown to SME, so the mail goes to the postmaster instead of  going external to the ISP.

Is there any chance to tell SME, that certain mails to the own domain should go to the SMTP server of the ISP?

TIA, Stefan

Jason

yes create a host entry in your doamin in your sme server manager of yourisp.yourdomain.com and put the ip address of your isp mail serer as the forward. Create your farther as a user but put forward all emails to your fathers account@yourisp.yourdoamain.com . the sme should now get the email addressed to father@domain.com and forward it to your isp where your isp will put it into his sub account

Sounds really good, but  unfortunately my ISP requires Auth SMTP. So this will most likely not work!?

I use the patched  qmail-remote from Saco, which honors Auth SMTP. But here it will not jump in, does it?

Furthermore,  AFAIK my ISP uses load balancer, so the IP address may vary. Not sure, if the now chosen address will last all the time.

Thanks anyway, I will test it ASAP and report back, if it works.

My ISP accepted the mail, but said:

    unrouteable mail domain "isp.domain.com"

I´ll have to make a new subdomain there. Stay tuned.
