6 webmail errors eafter php 4.2.2 upgrade
« on: December 26, 2003, 10:45:31 PM »
I have followed the instruction ( http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=17566.msg68508#msg68508 ) on upgrading php to 4.2.2. i did this because i wanted to install and run phpwebsite. Since the install of php 4.2.2 i have an error in my webmail.

When the users login to webmail they get at blank (white) page. I the users refreshes the browser the correct page is shown. The same happens when the users logout fra webmail.

I have seen phpwebsite and it doesn't work with other browsers than Internet Explorer wich I and many of my users don't use for security reasons. How do i downgrade the php to the former version or how do i get webmail to work properly with 4.2.2

Hi,
don't really use email/webmail function on my box.  But, after seeing your post, I decided to enable it & give it a try.  I did run into a problem with a horde authentication error.

Try following Michael Soulier's suggestions in this thread:
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=20210.msg79505#msg79505

It corrected the login problem for me, but again, I haven't done any extensive testing to see if horde is functioning properly as I don't normally use this feature.

Also, you may want to post additional info so people may better assist you.
i.e. which version of SME you're running, other contribs and/or setting changes.

Hope this helps,

Walt

Sorry,

I almost forgot.  If that wasn't really the issue,  try also looking at:

http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=19322.msg76502#msg76502

Specifically, the reference to Greg Zartman's Howto found at:

Hope this helps,

I am using sme 6 final with almost bare bones. I have only upgraded the PHP to version 4.2.3 and installed phpwebsite.

Will the mentioned PHP upgrade to version 4.3 make the horde webmail work. Alternatively is it possible to uninstall the PHP 4.2.3 rpms and reinstall the original php 4.2.x rpms?

Since phpwebsite can't run with Moxille Firebird it isn't very interresting. So I am looking for another rich CMS for my sme 6 server. Any good suggestions are welcome.

Did you try DanBrown's PHP RPMs (v4.3.4)?

You will find them under ../contribs/DanDrown/RPMS/i386/

I have installed the PHP4.3.4 update. I did the
# pear install Log
and
# /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/php.ini
I restarted the server.
Now the webmail works ok and I can use phpWebSite from Mozilla Firebird.

Thank you for your great help

Are they still there? I can't find any Dan Brown contributions in the contribs area.
