Hi all,
A couple of questions:
I have installed the e-smith server and so far LOVE the way it handles my network traffic. I am VERY new to the Linux/Red Hat OS and my UNIX is a bit rusty.
I have a couple of basic and one intense situation I am trying to work through. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1) Can I use CGI-BIN and PL scripts for email forms and confirmations. If so, what is the command to open up the CGI-BIN directory to allow this?
2) SCENARIO:
I have two static IP addresses. One for my FP webserver (OMA) and the other for my e-smith server (ANNA). I am doing web services on both units. I am serving up virtual domains on the OMA server running NT 4.0. ANNA is serving up one domain (it's domain) and I would like to run virtual domains later for clients with basic web hosting needs.
DNS Services are being done by MYDYNDNS.ORG and BFRENCH.COM. BFRENCH.COM is currently handling 9/10ths of the DNS services AND Email services. I want to migrate to DYNDNS and have the OMA server handle my heavier high-end clients for e-commerce and then have the ANNA server handle all the e-mail traffic and some basic webhosting.
QUESTION: What do I have to do to get the DYNDNS system and E-Smith server to talk to each other on the email issues?
TESTED: I have tested two websites to point to the e-smith server. I have two ibays, the hostnames and useraccounts set up for the two domains. I had DNYDNS pointing to the e-smith server but all I get is the ibay (not configured) in the browser and the email works great. I need the websites up running more than the email so I reconfigured DYNDNS to point back to OMA to get the sites back online.
Do I need to point the domains to the actual FP OMA webserver and then point the mail.domain.com to the e-smith server? I have tried this and it doesn't seem to be working. Do I need to create an MXRecord on the DNYDNS side? or the e-smith side? and if so, how do I do that?
Any thoughts? It's a lot to ask but I appreciate you reading.
Thanks in advance for the help.
