i am not in a position to pay the annual support subscription yet, but would gladly pay as much as $50 U.S. for a good in-depth book/manual from either e-smith or any 3rd party e-smith guru. it could be half rehashed red hat stuff and the rest on how the templates work and specific e-smith info

thanks for a great intro to linux product

A couple of ideas came to mind when I read your post:

There is a site at which you can post a "request for proposals" - e.g. of the form: & your offer of the $50 (tell in what currency your willing to pay in ;)

The idea is that -others- might have similar needs and may be willing to make a similar (or different, maybe even greater) contribution to the one(s) who do the work.

Eventually, the amount offered (by the group that has seen & offered to co-fund the project with you) will rise to a level at which it will become attractive to somebody with the skill & time to complete it.

An independent third party (who may also charge for their service) may have to decide if/when the job has been completed... i.e. so there's less chance of a dispute by the funders & contractors).

Does anybody have the URL to one of the sites that try to bring together sponsors, contractors & the ones who say "Yep, it's done"?

The -other- thing that your post brought to mind was a job (or was it a contract) offer - possibly by e-smith themselves - in which techinical writers were sought to write -just- such a book... maybe ask e-smith
if/how far along that work is going...?
