I've seen posts for these before, but if this works like a voting area, then the more these requests get seen the better...

My main request is a "System Update" option standard. One of the biggest complaints about Linux in general for Windows users is how hard it is to install something. Instead of clicking on setup.exe, you have to do a bunch of other junk. I think a standard interface (like devinfo-mitel-update-system) for adding updates would go a long way toward overall user-friendliness. If users are able to easily add updates themselves, that puts less pressure on Mitel to add more stuff to the basic distro too.

Port forwarding isn't quite as important, but a lot of people do use it. And it's not really a big deal to have it installed even if you're not using it.

Think of it this way.
As an original package deal, the e-smith server and gateway is pretty easy to setup. Even my 13 year old niece can do it by reading the documentation and asking me to explain certain words. She can set it up for her school with no assistance. She said that she wants some of the features that my customized e-box has. I asked her if she wanted to keep her server as secure as possible. She said it would be better that way.

People who like to do things the easy way are the same people that DON'T want to learn about things like security vulnerabilities. I think it's in Mitel's best interests to try to keep it's users safe from themselves, if they don't have the ability to comprehend that what they do can cause problems.

Would be nice if Mitel added these since they are built and ready to go, available here:
