Newer models from APC and other UPS systems come only with a USB interface. Monitoring support is currently supported for serial interfaces only.
USB Support would be nice.
Thanks.

Hi,

Just check the new version of APC UPS daemon at:

http://www.sibbald.com/apcupsd/

I´m sure that support USB UPS! But I haven´t tried it (YET!).

Maybe just upgrade apcupsd from 382 to 385 will solve your problem. And there is 397 and 3.10.x on beta!  Just do a backup to desktop first (AT LEAST!)

Thanks for the link Jader.
I did notice that one of the requirements for USB support required version 2.4.5 or later of the Linux kernel.

We have es-500 apc ups' working with 5.6 via the usb interface.

I just built an rpm of the latest release of apcupsd at the time (3.10.3) with usb support and installed it, then set the type/cable to usb and device to hiddev...

UPSCABLE usb
UPSTYPE usb
DEVICE /dev/usb/hiddev[0-9]

etc...

Hi Damien,
Last time I checked, apcupsd v.3.10.3 was in beta ... have you had any issues with the rpm so far? Is the rpm available anywhere?
Thanks.
Luis.

We've had no (known) problems with this version. The rpm I had was one I made myself, I think there may also be one from the site/or there's a spec file included in the tarball.

installed dmc-apcupsd385 + apcupsd3.10.5
