Congratulation to SME60Beta1. The Skin of the GUI is good!

I wish a Fature to your Workgroup Section.
I mean that is a good Option, the Samba is configurable wirth a "Password Server Option", "Security Level" and so on.
This Options are neccessary for a full integration in a Windows Domain with a transparent User Logon.

Very interesting (though it will not make 6.0). Of course, this
can all be done with custom smb.conf templates.

Maybe you could start with describing how these options
should be set to provide this integration? I'd suggest that
developer's list is the appropriate place to discuss this and
start a project to make it happen.

Thanks,

Gordon

Yes, I´m trying describe it:

Description:
I have had problems to integrate SME into a Windows World. It was necessarry to manipulate many custom-templates. Sometimes it was not possible, that the SME Server queries a PDC for a password of a Windows User Account. So, the only on way was to host a scond User List with ther own passwords on SME. If a User changes his/her password he/she is able to change the Password on den SME Server. This is not acceptable. I a modern Netzwork - It is a MUST - ther can only exist one Password List. All other Systems have to syncronice or query the Master Password Server. In my Case the Windows PDC.

Prefered Goal:
A Webpanel for a simply and but extensive Integration into a Windows Networtk. I should by possible that Windows hosts the only one Password/User List.  Also it should possible modify the IBays with Windows Permissions (If a Password Server is defined).

Suggested Solution:
Extend the Webpanel "Workgroup" with the following Functions:
- Support Wins  (yes/no) -> IP of Windows Wins Server

- Security Level (Domain/none) -> IP of PDC -> Password Server

- Maintain Password List (yes/no) -> If No: Autoconfigure winbind / nsswitch and check configuration with wbinfo

@gbl

Why don't you follow Gordon's suggestion and use devinfo mailing list to repost this. There are a lot more skilled souls reading that list.

Just a suggestion
