Suse have ported some code from the beta of Samba 3.0 into it's Samba 2.x offering on Suse 8.2 which allows XP Pro machines to join a linux domain without having to apply the registry fix - thought this might be possible with 6.0?

As SME is based on Redhat there would seem the better place to request.

Mitel's model is to stick pretty closely to the core Redhat code and packages and then overlay their own automation and integration. Developing their own Samba package would be a significent break from that, and while the additionial compatibility would be nice the code development wouldn't be in the areas where Mitel works now.

Again, I'd look to Redhat for anything Samba-related, if they include it SME will inherit it.
