Freeserve - unlimited use

Fairly easy to set up a conventional dial-in script to Freeserve (UK ISP) - just wait for, and answer,  'ogin' and 'assword' prompts as normal - but it seems difficult to alter this connection to use their unlimited/unmetred access number. The script is somehow different but I can't figure out what it needs to be fed. Anyone got this working? Seems worth doing since really the cheapest dial-in deal available this side of the pond ...

Hi Adam,
I've been using FS unlimited for a while now on an e-smith 4.1.2 box - external 56k modem and had no problems with connection and authentication.
I just configured with phone no., username and password during the install and it worked right off the bat.

(appologies in advance...this bits off topic)
Disconnection however was and is a problem for me as diald insisted on keeping the line open permenantly, I tried the isp rpm and it worked, but users have to have admin access to e-smith in order to connect. Im currently trying things like connectd, alt connect, masqdialer etc. but they're a 'b' to intigrate into e-smith.

Having said all that I've just changed to FS anytime and not had a chance to reconfig and try that yet.
Will get back when I have.

Rob

Thanks for this - I have actually had a more detailed reply from a different source explaining another way so will try this and post the results if anyone is interested. Seems the unusual 'long' format (i.e. with extra digits at start) of the special dial-in number required by toll-free Freeserve connections may be one problem?

create an icon that ping's a numeric ip and anyone can make a connection
it's documented in the panel
