I think a sytem like workshop.lindows.com could be great.
As a PHP progrmer I can do it with no problem. Workshop should be:
List package

current list of stable, beta packages/projects.
Adopt a package

Put your name to contribute to upgrade/develop a package
Propose a package
-----------------
To propose a new package to SME
WorkBench
---------
All packages you are supposed to work on with all details(last sources etc)Althought you can upload your work there
After all what we need is to define which are standard packages (included in ISO image) and addons.
We'll need moderators and testers.
After that there will be a standard SME distro with some fucntionnalities and add-ons.
Contributions will stay on the web site as experimental upgrade/addons that would be accessible to public. If a contributor wants its package to be added to standard SME distro or to addons list he will have to "Propose a package" throught workshop and then the staff will have to accept, reject it.
