what is not working with this option? As far i remember it only creates a tar zipped file that is saved in your lokal machine. And _should_ work with any computer if there is space left on it.

A rsync´ed backup through ssh is not possible because OS X has a wrong charset in its terminal emulation. And a wrong/different keymap underits GUI and terminal windows. But at all it is a very nice OS.

You need to have your Windows sharing a.k.a. SMB settings correctly setup on OS X.
