problem when sending e-mail from webmail
« on: January 25, 2004, 11:45:03 AM »
Hi there!

I have a e-smith 5.6 running, locatet at som friends.

i have here at home just set up a router (with firewall / dhcp etc.) to serv my houses pc's

at the time writing this i have it set up this way :

1. the ISP's adsl modem  -> hub ->
split in to
1. the router
2. other pc. that at time not wants to conect throug the router is conectet directly to the hub

When i conects to the net throug the router (and get a ip from the router throug DHCP) i can log in the webmail and read mail, change my settings / filters etc. but i can't compose new mail... it just end's up showing a "the server can not be found" page :-(

If i plug my pc directly to the hub so i get an DHCP ip from my ISP instead of from the router i can perfectly compose new mail in the webmail

Is there a special port i shoud open in the firewall of the router to get it to work

i have tryed to put my pc. in the DMZ zone of the router, and stil no luck composing mail

i have tryed to make a wirtual server at the router opening port 143 (imap) to my pc, and also without luck

if i remember corectly last time i looked in the log file at the server, i found somthing regarding composing mail in the webmail area, saying somthing like this...

did not recive identification string from xxx

this was regarding the imap service, and when i was trying to send mail while conected throug my router

Any sugestion ??

You don't have the same domain name configured anywhere at your place (on the router or local hosts file), do you?
