Downgrade from 6.0 to 5.6

I have to downgrade my 6.0 server. Win 98 clients can’t log on to VPN because of a bug with pptp in 6.0. Tell me if this would work and if any of you have ever tried it.

Here is my setup.

6.0 servers with a 40 gig mirror and a tape backup in server gateway mode.
There are 10 computers logged on to the domain running login scripts to map drives.

Will this work.
1: Do a tape backup
2: Whipe out the server.
3: install 5.6 with all updates.
4: Restore the backup.

Questions.
1: Will I have to re join everyone on the domain? All computers are win 98 or 95 with two windows 2000.

2: will my users and groups and drive permissions be messed up.

What kind of problem are you having with vpn ? I am running win98 on a desktup, and I am able to vpn into servers rrunning either 5.6 or 6.0. I am running 6.0 on my server. I am able to vpn into my server from workstation at remote locations.

Please give a few more details on what is failing, and I will try to help.
