« on: July 17, 2001, 11:26:06 PM »
I am trying to get the virtual domain feature to work.
could some please help me.

Here is what I am tring to accomplish.
I have register a domain name acomcomputers.net and I have setup a virtual domain www.starcraft.acomcomputers.net but when I try to connect to the web page it says "page can not be displayed"

Here is what I have done so far.
1. setup new user
2. setup new group add use to group
3. setup ibay call "photo"
4. setup virtual domain name "starcraft.acomcomputers.net" assign ibay "photo" for content

I can access the webpage when I type the ibay address
"www.acomcomputers.net/photo"

can this be done ?
www.VirtualDomainName.acomcomputers.net

Also I would like to setup www.webmail.acomcomputers.net that will allow me to access my webmail with this address.

Is it possible to setup www.webmail.domain.xxx for other register domains ?

Please Help

Thanks

Hi Sidney,
This can be done quite easily on E-smith. Firstly you need to know the registrar (who you bought it off) of your domain and secondly if they have a domain management facility? Obviously you have already done some domain management if you can browse to your domain from the internet. So you need to create some hosts (www, ftp, webmail, starcraft) for your domain using the Registrars domain management facility and point the hosts to your IP address. The webmail and starcraft hosts will probably need to be "Stealth redirected" to their appropriate URL. Lastly you will need to go to the "hostnames and addresses" section of the e-smith manager and setup the hosts as per the manual located here. http://e-smith.org/docs/manual/4.1/admin-hostnames.html . I use www.mydomain.com to do all my domain management if you want to check them out.
