Topic: Only file share

I'm trying to setup SME server but I only want it to act like a stand alone server, but only provide password protected file sharing (EG-Password for individual folders on the server).  I don't want mail, web, ftp, or the VPN features, will I be able to simply shut them off?  What should my domain name be then?  Any help is MUCH appreciated.

You can install the SME server in 'server mode' only - if you need just a file server. This will de-activate a lot of the 'extra' stuff. You can also de-activate any running services manually (there is also a contrib to do this through the server-manager).
