sme6.0 boot fails with er_cacheboot after upgrade
« on: February 06, 2004, 11:05:37 PM »
While upgrading an Acer301 server with SME5.5 to 6.0-final-unsup. I experienced 'hda: lost interrupt' during boot-up. I worked out it was caused by the IDE-RAID controler (one disk attached, no raid configured). As work-around I booted from CD(sme6.0) with the sme5.5 disk attached as master on ide-3 (hde). The upgrade went fine.

But on reboot the disk stops with boot:<cr> er_cacheboot.

It starts-up allright when booted from 6.0 emergency diskette. (except that it cannot turn swap-on on hda5!)

I think the /etc/e-smith/templates still try to install Lilo while it seems that Grub is used too!

Can anyone help me out?

FYI: fresh install on ide-3 (hde) works fine. fresh install on IDE-RAID fails! (hda: lost interrupt)
