Topic: Changing Primary domain name

Greetings,

My company has recently bought a new domain name which they would like to use instead of their old one.  I can't find an help on how to change my primary domain name.  I have SME 5.6 and I use it primarily as a mail server.  The company wants all of our user's e-mail addresses to change to the new domain name as well.  Can anyone offer any help?

login as admin from the console.
Select from the menu "configure server".
Go through the configuration steps and modify domain name and anything you need to.
Finish wizard and restart server then prompted.

The second option is to leave the existing domain as it is and add the new domain name as "virtual domain".
Both names will be available for use.

If I add the virtual domain, will my user's e-mail addresses still have the old domain name?  eg: user@olddomain.com is the current setup.  I need the new addresses to read: user@newdomain.ca

I have a similiar problem, but I don't have a video card in my server, can you do this from ssh?

Its up to user to configure what domain to put in the from: field. Either new, or old (or even inexistent) will work.

(Yep I WAS logging in as root, but after reading this tried as admin - and got the console happenning - but  even admin does not work )

Is this a bug ?

Is there any 'workaround' ?
- my REAL problem is that outbound email generated by a script of mine (ie from root@domainname) is bounced back by the ISP, who I presume has validated that the domain does not exist [yet]

Are you using your ISP's mail server or your own SME server as SMTP?

The SME - straight out of the box! (off the cd HEHE).
I think the mail generated by root from the script running in the os, bounces because the domain name is not registered (working on that).

So i was wondering how to 'masquerade' as something else,
but I cant fond a 'mail' parameter (like -s for subject):
maybe 'mail' is the wrong process to run?
