Topic: Backup/Restore

Hi
I am setting up a new server to replace the one I currently use as well as going from 56k modem to 512/512 SDSL. I have quite am hosting quite a few sites and running several MSQL DB's.

I tried Backup to desktop from the old server and the restore just came up with an error. I think it had somethig to do with the new system being totally different to the old system.

Can anybody please advise me how to restore the the old system onto the new.

Learn to use the search

Do a search on backup and/or backup2ws and then you will see a few results.
At the very bottom just select (tick) Forums
Then click on the Show all results link.

Just a few days ago an answer was posted.
Also go back to early year 2003 and then start reading from there onwards. There are many to choose from.

In short the backup to desktop backup/restore function will not work if your resultant backup size is bigger than 2Gb.
You need to use backup2ws or tape backup or one of the other backup methods suggested in these forums. Your choice.
