printer on serial port (COM2/ttyS1)
« on: February 10, 2004, 03:24:10 AM »
I searched for 'printer serial' 'printer com' 'printer tty' - nothing!

I need a 2nd printer (first is on lpt0) so want to use com2 ttyS1, as the modem is on ttyS0.

How do I do so?

(I could setup lpt1, the second parallel, then kludge -
aussie for beat to shape  :-) ) the /etc/inittab and /etc/printtab, but Im not sure the inittab line needed)

TIA, Rob :pint:

.. do yourself a big favour and use USB - setting up & using serial printers tends to be a pain on most OS's (not to mention slow unless text only)

USB printing work fine tho make sure you get the printing patch if using SME 6 final.
